I have worked on Avid Media Composer,
The Adobe Creative tools and
Da Vinci Resolve

Radio New Zealand
Visuals Editor
This was a leadership role with significant content, technical and management elements.
Managing a team of visual journalists producing stills and video for news events for the website, social and for the visual show Checkpoint.
The visual journalists were based in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, so coordinating a group of people doing different tasks was a big part of my role, deciding what to cover visually.
Freelance
Working as a freelancer the range of work is enjoyable and keeps you sharp on the tools, the durations and deadlines can vary from each video.
In the past I edited a few pieces for 90 Seconds, Aotearoa Science Agency and Campbell Squared.
Weta FX
Animation Editor
Working for the editorial team placed in the centre of the animation department, I worked closely with the animation teams to assist with more technical queries.
I worked with different formats depending on the project and client and converted them to formats required for our animators. I was a small cog in a very big machine but the end result of us all working together is magic.

About
I have been in the television and film universe now for over twenty years, starting my time working for Dunedin’s local TV Channel Nine, running around the streets of Dunedin filming and editing for “Cow TV”.
From there I moved into the news industry working in TVNZ Wellington newsroom, I started as a parliament camera operator filming question time and general debate, in the weekends I got my in working shifts editing for the 6pm News.
After getting a full time role and editing stories for 6pm, Te Karere and close up I moved to Auckland to start a role editing for TV3.
From there, I worked at 3News for over 8 years, spending the last 4 years there as the chief editor. Overlooking and assigning workflow to make sure every night the 6pm bulletin had visual stories to play. I was managing a team of 15 editors as well as a hand full of freelancers.
After TV3 I moved to Weta FX, I was the Animation Editor part of the editorial team in Wellington. This was quite the shift, deadlines were now weeks away not hours learning how to move big data around securely and learning big systems that support all the major studios was impressive. Here I was syncing audio up with Deadpool’s cursing, matching mocap movement with the Big Friendly Giant and editing up reference video for the Planet of the Apes.
From there I moved to Radio New Zealand where I was the Visuals Editor for an awesome team of visual journalists. I would overlook the day's news events and assign what the company should cover visually and how. We covered stories like Whaaakri White Island disaster, March 15 and extensive coverage over Covid 19 lockdowns. Collaborating with companies like TVNZ and Newshub to make sure RNZ had the best visual content and covered all current stories.
The visual team at RNZ were true superstars and they do excellent work in the New Zealand news space.
